Day 1 : Bremen

Now it's time to talk about my holiday! From 21st to 23rd Feb, I spent two nights in Hamburg. On the first day, I went on a train to Bremen for the day. 

旅1日目。日本からフランクフルト経由でハンブルクへ。早朝にフランクフルトへ着いたのですが、なんとその日空港のセキュリティスタッフの突然のストライキ。通常よりもかなり少ない人数で業務を行っているようで、乗り換えのためのセキュリティチェックに時間がかかり、危うく乗り継ぎに間に合わないところでした…後から知ったのですが、この日の午後空港がストのためクローズになったそう。危なかった！

The oldest part of Bremen, called the Schnoor quarter, is so pretty. Lots of small shops, cafe and restaurants on the cobbled streets. It must be so busy at weekends, but I was lucky as I was there on Friday. You can see no-one in my pictures! 

で、無事到着したハンブルク。ホテルへさっさと荷物を置いて、電車でブレーメンへ。このかわいい街並みは、ブレーメンのシュノーア地区というところ。この一部のエリアだけが、小さくて古い建物が連なり、童話の世界のようなのです。週末はかなり賑わいそうですが、平日だったため閑散としてました。

I went to the Paula Modersohn-Becker Museum - that's the main reason why I visited Bremen, BUT it was closed!! ( I had checked the website beforehand but it didn't say it's closed ) I was so dissapointed :( 

I decide to go back to Hamburg, and walked towards the railway station. On the way back, I passed by a big old building, looked like a museum. I went in and found out that it's Kunsthalle Bremen. 

I was surprised that they've got a great collection of Paula Modersohn- Becker paintings!! Not only Paula's but also other artists. Feels lucky to come across such a wonderful art museum. Enjoyed it so much. 

ブレーメンへ行った最大の目的は、パウラ・モーダーゾーン・ベッカーの美術館を訪ねること…しかーし！この美術館がなんと休館でした(涙) 行く前にホームページなども調べて行ったのですが、それでも分かりませんでした…。受付まで行って、この事実を知りかなり打ちのめされたのですが、美術館の受付のおばさんがドイツ語で「表にも貼ってあったわよね？」というようなことを言ってるのを聞いて、ああドイツ語が分からない私が悪いんだ、と思い、変な諦めがつきました。

その後、諦めてハンブルクへ戻ろうと駅へ向かう途中、美術館のような建物のそばを通り、気になって覗いてみたら、ブレーメン美術館でした。常設展しかしてなかったけれど、入ってみたら…なーんーてー素晴らしいこと！新旧様々なアーティストの作品が盛りだくさん！そして、なんとパウラの作品もたくさん展示されていたのです…

不幸中の幸いとはこのこと？偶然の出会いに感謝しつつ、次回へ続く！
