beetroot


My breakfast few weeks ago, scrambled egg on sourdough bread, beetroot salad and coffee. I don't remember exactly when I had beetroot for the first time but it isn't a long time ago, I remember I was in England when I first eat it. I was surprised by the colour, but quite liked the taste. 

Beetroot isn't a popular vegetable in Japan, that's why I didn't have a chance to try. A couple of years ago when I went to Morioka, I saw some fresh beetroots at the local farmers' market. I was pleased & so curious how to cook it, so I bought some fresh ones. 

I saw fresh beetroots again in morioka the other week, i bought it and roasted in the oven and mixed with wine vinegar & other seasonings, made beetroot salad. I had it with friends one evening, almost all of them hadn't had beetroot before but they enjoyed it! Wish beetroots could be more popular in japan. 

ビーツはお好きですか、皆さん?先日盛岡の産直で久々にビーツを売っているのを発見。買ってきて、早速サラダにして友人たちとのご飯会に出しました。ほとんどの友人がこうしたビーツを食べるのは初めて、ということもあり、かなり興味深げに食べてました。気に入ってくれたようで良かった。

今回は丸ごとオーブンで焼いて、皮をむいて作ったのですが、茹でるより甘みがまし美味しかったです。もっと手に入り易くなるといいのにー
