I took an hour bus ride to the west and I arrived a city called Yamagata.
Have been there many times, and love its atmosphere. It is a capital city of Yamagata county but compare to Sendai ( where I live ), feels much smaller and more intimate.
I usually do nothing special, just visit some cafes, take a look at farmers' market, and do some shoppings etc.. but always enjoy my visit.
山形市へいってきました。仙台からわずかバスで１時間。何度も訪れている場所ではありますが、何度行っても新しい発見があり、変わらないものもあり、ホッと落ち着く街。特に何をするわけではないけれど、ブラブラと歩き、喫茶店で休憩し、産直で新鮮なお野菜を眺め、おいしいパンをお気に入りのパン屋さんで買うだけで、十分リフレッシュ。お手軽旅気分。
いつも行くのは、まなび館。山形市立第一小学校の旧校舎を利用したアートスペース。なかでも喫茶スペースの、穀雨カフェがお気に入り。夏限定の赤紫蘇ジュースで休憩。日差しを浴びてきれい！
This is a place I always visit when I'm in Yamagata - Manabi-kan, a former elementary school but now it turns into an art gallery. I stopped by a cafe and had a glass of red shiso juice. Very refreshing!
it wasn't a festive day, but colourful lanterns still remain the summer festival which had been held a few weeks ago.
数週間前に行われたお祭りの名残かな？カラフルなちょうちんがカワイイ。
I always find these chairs at Yamagata bus station are attractive.
いつもついつい写真をとってしまう、山交バスステーションの待合所の椅子。かなりの古さ、でもこのちぐはぐな色の組み合わせやレトロな感じがツボ。
You can buy some local products at Manabi-kan. Nice packages! There are banana jam & plum jam, miso, and rice.
まなび館では地元で作られた物産も購入可。この写真に写っているのは、上からバナナジャム＆梅ジャム、味噌、お米。パッケージもいい感じ。曜日によっては天然酵母のパンや地元の野菜なども買う事ができます。
